Wedding Date: September 1, 2013
We tend to have a ton of teachers choose the Ohio Village for their wedding venue. Maybe because their colleagues bring students here for a field trip and say, “Hey (Bride’s name), there’s a cute church here!” Whatever the reason may be, I like it! These ladies are organized…and by organized I mean instructions are color coded, they take notes at meetings, and probably have post-it notes in their purses. They also know exactly what they want and can make it happen.
Stephanie definitely fits this description which helped make their wedding so spectacular. I first met her and Tony about 16 months before their wedding. We can’t book weddings until 12 months before the date, but these two knew that the church was their perfect venue. They were ready and reserved it at exactly midnight, 1 year before their wedding, to make sure it was theirs! They had great ideas and the attention to detail allowed the theme to carry from The Dress, through the ceremony, all the way to the reception. The results were unforgettable and their photographer, Lauren from Barefeet Studio, captured it all.
When I asked Stephanie for her favorite moment of her wedding day, she responded, “Getting ready in the basement of the church with my bridesmaids is a time I won’t ever forget.” Those moments with your closest friends and family before you walk down the aisle are some of the most precious memories of your day.
This First Look is so precious!
“I will never forget walking up the aisle after we were married. I was feeling part relief, part joy…even though my veil fell out when we started walking! My husband and I were able to have a moment to ourselves for the first time all day.” That moment is so special and we try to allow for this at each wedding here in the Ohio Village. After the walk up the aisle as Man and Wife, we tuck the couple in a private room for a few special moments together, away from the crowd of people and the details and the camera.
Stephanie and Tony were an amazing couple to work with. You can see in each picture how much love they have. They worked as a team through each detail and even used a point system to pick their songs. Stephanie explains, “Our first dance was That’s How Strong My Love Is by Otis Redding. Tony and I narrowed it down to five songs together and then used a point system to pick the winner. I was kind of excited when our DJ had to get the song from us because it meant it wasn’t used at 100 weddings last year.” Everything about their wedding was unique and truly what they wanted, from the confetti toss, to the bridesmaids’ dresses, to the recessional to Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. Stephanie says, “Weddings are built on tradition and familiarity.” Although she wasn’t afraid to do anything unexpected and fun either! Check out a few images from here cool reception:
“The church is such a pretty space. It is unique and the staff is so easy to work with,” Stephanie explains about the Ohio Village venue. “We did things here that a lot of venues wouldn’t have ever let happen. The confetti picture is one of my favorites.” It’s one of my favorites, too, Stephanie! This was SO much fun. You can’t see me, but I’m in the back throwing confetti too. Stephanie’s advice to planning brides:
Make it yours. If you have a great idea to make it unique, don’t be afraid to try. You only get to do it once but pick your priorities that are the MOST important to you when selecting where to spend your budget. Also, have a plan for the day of, and share it with the bridal party. Create a time schedule and assign them tasks ahead of time for clean up so you don’t have to stress about it. Lastly, don’t sweat the stuff you can’t control. Most likely, your guests won’t notice if you don’t mention it!
Processional: Canon in D, Pachelbel
Recessional: Don’t Stop Believing, Journey
