Event Coordinator: Laura Sisinger
Captain: Katie Sullivan
Hello! Before I share this lovely couple’s Ohio Village wedding, I wanted to introduce myself as the new Event Coordinator for the Ohio History Connection! I have been in the hospitality industry for a little over 8 years, in hotels and catering, and just recently came to my new home at OHC. I’m ecstatic to be a part of such a wonderful organization and have the opportunity to coordinate some fantastic events and delightful weddings.
One of my first weddings in the Ohio Village was the Kruman/Gorman wedding. Susan and Mike are two of the kindest people you’ll ever meet and they are just perfect for each other. I could tell from the moment I met them, only a few weeks before their wedding, it was going to be a special day in the Ohio Village Church. My favorite part about this wedding is the simplicity of the décor. Delicate tulle bows lined the aisle way and two white flower arrangements adorned the altar area. The attention was definitely on the Bride and Groom and I just loved it.
Susan had this to say about why they chose the church for their wedding:
“We knew that OHS hosted weddings because I had a friend who married there several years ago. When Mike and I were looking for places for our wedding, I suggested OHS. Once we toured the place, it was pretty much settled that we would get married there. It had the right combination of tradition and character that we wanted for our wedding.
The staff at OHS was helpful from the time we initially toured the village until the ceremony was finished. They were responsive, helpful, excited for us and clearly had experience with planning and hosting weddings. In fact, Laura was our source for the traditional way of doing things as well as other options other couples have chosen. Her expertise really helped when it came to ironing out the finer details of the ceremony during our rehearsal.”
Susan and Mike’s day couldn’t have been any more perfect, and when asked about her favorite parts of the day, she seemed to agree:
“Our wedding at OHS was a memorable, perfect day. The family and friends, excitement of marrying my best friend, the setting of and staff at OHS and the weather came together to make it a dream come true.”
As you can tell, the photos from the wedding turned out great! Susan and Mike had some great ideas, and I love all the different ways they included the village as a backdrop in their photos.
“After our ceremony, the Village was our playground as we took all kinds of fun pictures. We posed on the bridge and trolley at one of the Village, I “played” tug of war with the groomsmen in the middle of the village, we checked out the baseball scores from the recent Muffin’s game and we took some pictures in the traditional setting of the church. The Village is a fantastic place for wedding pictures!”
Susan had this fantastic advice to give to pass along to her fellow brides about planning their wedding:
“We would highly recommend the Village to couples planning their wedding! I would also recommend that brides plan their wedding day to suit their personality, budget, etc and not be too worried about what other people want or think. The best complement we received about our wedding is that it really reflected our personalities (as a wedding should).”
Thanks Susan and Mike for letting us be a part of your special day! We offer you best wishes for the future!
